Someone Passed Away. What Flowers Am I Supposed to Send?
Written by E4 Arrangements
When someone passes away, one of the last things you want to worry about is:
“Am I sending the right flowers?”
And if you've never had to order sympathy or funeral flowers before, it can be confusing.
Standing spray? Vase arrangement? Casket spray? Something for the family's home?
Here's the simple version.

Sending Something to the Family's Home?
A vase arrangement, basket arrangement, plant, or other sympathy design is appropriate.
This is less about decorating the funeral service and more about letting the family know:
“I'm thinking about you.”

Sending Flowers to the Funeral Service?
A standing spray or wreath may be appropriate.
These pieces are generally larger and designed specifically to be displayed during the service.
Before ordering, make sure you have the correct funeral home, name of the deceased, and service information.

What About the Casket Flowers?
Here's an important one.
The large arrangement that sits directly on the casket is usually selected by the immediate family.
Unless you've been asked to purchase it, I wouldn't automatically order a casket spray for someone else's funeral.
What If I Still Don't Know What to Send?
Ask.
Seriously.
You are not expected to suddenly become a funeral-flower expert because someone you love passed away.
Tell your florist your relationship to the person or family, where you'd like the flowers delivered, and your budget.
We can help you understand what's appropriate.
Because during a difficult time, figuring out which arrangement you're “supposed” to send shouldn't be another thing weighing on you.
