How much should I spend on flowers?
Written by E4 Arrangements
Let's talk about something people don't always ask out loud:
“How much am I actually supposed to spend on flowers?”
And the answer is...it depends. 😂
You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars every time you send flowers. But there are certain occasions where size, design, and the type of arrangement naturally affect the price.
Here's an easy way to think about it.
Just Because $50-$100+
Want to brighten someone's day, say thank you, or bring something pretty to a friend? Keep it simple. This isn't an occasion where you need to prove anything with the size of the arrangement.

Birthdays, Anniversaries, Romance $75-$200+
This is where you can make things more personal.
Instead of automatically thinking, “I need the biggest arrangement,” think about the person receiving it.
What colors do they love? Do they like something simple and elegant or big and dramatic? Is this a regular birthday or a milestone? Is it your second anniversary or your 25th?
Premium flowers, larger arrangements, and custom designs can increase the price, but remember:
Expensive doesn't automatically mean thoughtful.
Something chosen specifically with that person in mind can mean much more.
Sympathy & Funeral $100-$350+
This category can vary quite a bit.
A sympathy arrangement sent to someone's home may be on the lower end, while standing sprays, wreaths, casket flowers, and larger funeral pieces require significantly more flowers, mechanics, and design work.
If you're unsure what is appropriate, ask the florist. You shouldn't have to figure that out while you're grieving or trying to support someone who is.
So What's the “Right” Amount?
Start with the occasion, your relationship with the person, and what you're comfortable spending.
A $75 arrangement sent with genuine thought can mean far more than a $250 arrangement purchased simply because you thought you were supposed to spend that much.
And please, tell your florist your budget.
Seriously.
A good florist isn't there to make you feel bad because you don't have a $300 budget. Our job is to help you understand what can realistically be created within the amount you're comfortable spending.
Because flowers shouldn't be about proving how much you spent.
They're about what you're trying to say.
